Depolderisation

In the Netherlands we have an increasing risk of flooding. The rivers are sandwiched between dikes. where more and more people live behind. Making higher dikes is not enough. We must lower the water in the rivers. The government is taking measures to protect against flooding in the future. One of these projects is the depolderisation of the Noordwaard. In this area the water will flow through creeks over the land and gives it a way to leave the area savely, before it floods. During this work, such as digging creeks, making roads and place bridges, the acces in the Noordwaard is limited. Therefore make sure you notice off the construction signs and the instructions on it. After the work (end 2015) Holland is safer and enriched with a nice new piece of nature.
